I'm sitting in a bar that belongs to Budapest's buzzing microbrewery district — a place that feels like it's been pulled straight out of an old Hollywood set.

The street is pure drama: weathered facades, moody corners, and at its heart, the bar Mad Scientist — a spot that could easily double as a movie backdrop.

The brand was created in 2016 by three men — Csaba Tarján, Tamás Szilágyi, and Gergő Závodszky — and has been quietly (well, loudly) taking over the craft beer world ever since.

I dropped in on the last day of my Budapest trip, planning for a quick half-hour tasting.

Enter Dominic, one of the bar's new but already brilliant bartenders.

He'd only been there a month, but you'd think he'd been curating the place for years. Friendly, sharp, and full of good recommendations — the kind of service that makes you forget the time.

Became almost two hours of beer geekery.

Proof that good service and real product knowledge can stretch time in the best way.

Liquid Cocaine & Other Experiments

First up: Liquid Cocaine — a double IPA with a silky malt backbone, dangerously smooth for its 9% ABV. It's complex, lush, and way too easy to drink for its strength.

Second: House of Dragons — a dry stout brewed with cinnamon and chili. Warming, spicy, and beautifully balanced.

A beer that manages to feel both playful and serious at once.
